From My Garden Swing

Thank you for visiting. If you are a seasoned pro or a beginning gardener, you will find a ton of information on these pages. I’m sitting looking at my garden and trying to envision what will be happening to it in the next few months.

Asters are beginning to bloom, living up to their promise after months of growth. The Chrysanthemums are adding their yellow and bronze colors to the palette. Geranium ‘Ann Folkard’ has insinuated her way throughout my South bed, even climbing netting that the blooming Lonicera pericyclemenum (late Dutch honeysuckle) uses.

As Teresa Watkins said "Every garden is unique with a multitude of choices in soils, plants and themes. Finding your garden theme is as easy as seeing what brings a smile to your face." You pick your theme, we'll help you make it happen!

Dinner has been moved up an hour to add time to work in our garden to compensate for the loss of light in the evening as the days become shorter and shorter. All these are signs of fall beginning to make its presence felt in my Seattle garden. Many of us probably experience a minor sense of foreboding at the coming of fall and winter. We shouldn’t.

In a few months, the bare earth we tried so hard to obscure with plants will reassert itself as the dominant feature. But that is not the end of our gardening activity for the year.
